Farm workers are rewarded for exceptional work

The Farm worker of the Year competition is well established in the Western Cape.

Two participants of the 2014 competition have been rewarded for their exceptional work when their awards gave them exposure to the Fresh Fruit Market and Supermarkets in South Africa.

The prize, which was sponsored by Sapex, a fresh fruit marketing company, included a trip to Johannesburg. There the winners first visited the enormous Municipal soft fruit market in City Deep. This is the biggest market in Africa.

It was an opportunity for the winners to experience the entire production process through which the soft fruit produce moves, from the arrival and cooling, to the sales and transport.

After this, the winners went to a Pick n Pay distribution centre where the retail process was examined. According to one of our winners, Antonie September, it is important to them to know the processes from when the product leaves the farm until the sale thereof.

Plaaswerkers Beloon Vir Toegewyde Werk
